Designed by Apple in California has been released around November 2016 but there haven’t been much talk about it since then.

So in this post, I will talk about the Apple $300 book.

Maybe you have heard about it or seen it already, but maybe this is the first time you hear about it so I am going to tell you a little about it.

A book?

So you are probably wondering, how come that Apple has released a book.

Aren’t they only releasing electronic products? Well, yes they are but they have also made a book featuring all of their products and in the book, they talk about their history.

In the book, Apple introduced 20 years of Apple’s design which they have expressed through 450 photos of the past and current products.

They did really cover products from 1998’s iMac to 2015 Apple Pencil.

The most interesting thing they talk about in the book is the way they have created and designed products past two decades, but also they have shown documents, materials, and techniques used by Apple’s design team.

Why is it so special?

The reason why is it so special is, if you didn’t know, is that the book is specially dedicated to the memory of Steve Jobs which reflect Apple’s creative inspiration and thinking.

“The idea of genuinely trying to make something great for humanity was Steve’s motivation from the beginning, and it remains both our ideal and our goal as Apple looks to the future”

– said Jony Ive, Apple’s chief design officer.

“This archive is intended to be a gentle gathering of many of the products the team has designed over the years. We hope it brings some understanding to how and why they exist, while serving as a resource for students of all design disciplines.”

And the price?

As you have probably read earlier, I have mentioned it’s a $300 dollar book.

However, it is available in two sizes.

Designed by Apple in California – Small starts at $199 US Dollars and its dimensions are (10.20″ x 12.75″).
Designed by Apple in California – Large starts at $300 US Dollars and it’s dimensions are (13″ x 16.25″).

I really this is a nice way to honor Steve Jobs for everything he has done for Apple.

Although it is being a nice book full of photos, it has a lot bigger meaning which really sends the message. Also, the book shows and reminds you of the Apple’s design for a reason. Apple cares about design as much as about functionality and that’s something they are really well known for. Their prices might be a little bit pricey, but they are really doing a great job to satisfy their customers with making the best products possible.

So yes people will always think this book might be overpriced, but really, truly fans will know why they are buying the book for, and I think many true fans own this book and have it on the shelf.

If you are just buying it because it’s a nice book, it is maybe expensive, but if you consider why is it made, and what is Apple’s message through the book – it is really something on another level then.

For people who really love Apple Products, this is a great book to have out on your coffee table. It’s hard to remember all of the products Apple has brought to market and it’s fascinating to go through and look at them. 🙂

    • I couldn’t agree more with you Shannon.
Although it’s pricey but it’s a really nice combination of art and history.
Also, it’s dedicated to Steve Jobs, so you can look at it as a piece of his contribution to Apple.

      Thanks for your comment!
